A Rochester pharmacy has
become the first in Medway to be given a golden seal of approval for its health
services for young people.
Karsons Pharmacy in City Way
was awarded the You’re Welcome accolade for its tailored health services for
young people up to the age of 19, which includes confidential advice, support
and signposting to other services such as counselling, contraception and sexual
health, diet and exercise guidance. The pharmacy’s trained specialists can also
help with smoking, alcohol, drug and emotional-related problems, as well as
testing and providing treatment for Chlamydia.
The Department of
Health–accredited scheme is awarded to pharmacies and other health services that
have demonstrated they provide services that improve accessibility, choice and
quality of services for young people.
Pharmacy manager Pam Karson
said: “We receive very positive feedback from young people who use the pharmacy,
which in itself is a very popular and friendly environment, where they can talk
to us about any issues they have, particularly those which they can’t with other
adults.”
Medway’s Director of Public
Health Dr Alison Barnett said: “I am pleased to welcome Karsons Pharmacy to the
You’re Welcome scheme. |
