Medway Teenage Pregnancy Small Grants Fund
Introduction
Medway Teenage Pregnancy Programme is
offering the exciting opportunity for organisations (including voluntary and
community organisations) to bid for small grants to support their work in
reducing the under-18 conception rate in the local area.
Eligibility
· Statutory and
non-statutory organisations are invited to apply.
· The group will need a
bank account in its own name, and a minimum of four people responsible for its
running.
· Groups do not need to have a constitution, but they must tell us their objectives, who is involved and how they make decisions.
Funding criteria
We are offering small
grants for specific projects, which aim to reduce the incidence of teenage
pregnancy in Medway.
A variety of projects
will be considered which are of benefit to young people.
Priority will be given to
projects that deliver demonstrable benefit to the target population and should
address at least one of the following criteria:
- Target / cover groups of young people
who are known to be at increased risk of teenage pregnancy (including high
rate wards).
- Develop partnership working with two or
more organisations to establish effective joint working and long-term
sustainability
- Are pilot projects that meet local
needs and have ongoing funding available from other sources to continue
after the pilot period.
- Build community strengths and meet
unmet needs
Organisations should
provide:
- Clear objectives and anticipated
outcomes their project and produce and end of year report with qualitative
and quantitative information.
- A workable and realistic budget
- Details of how they involve young
people in the design, monitoring and evaluation
- Information on their equality and
diversity policy ensuring projects do not discriminate on the basis of race,
sex, religious or philosophical conviction or any other grounds
Grant size
£50,000 is available for the totality of the small grants scheme. A variety of grant sizes will be considered.
When to apply
The deadline for bids is:
31st January 2012
Decisions on applications
Applications will be assessed against the above criteria by a panel of assessors. Young people will actively be involved in the decision-making process.
Additional terms and conditions may be added to individual applications.
Decisions will be made within six weeks of each deadline. Decisions are final and there will be no system of appeal.
Grant Management
Each organisation will be responsible for monitoring spend against the agreed budget, alerting any over- and/ or under-spend.
